Thanksgiving Cardpatterns

This week Sherrod Studio sponsored our cards this week having sent us pre-stamped images. I used my Sharpie markers to color in the turkey, then I fussy cut it out, and popdotted it up over the cuttlebug embossed paper. I used the distressed stripe folder, and added in a nice brown gingham ribbon on my mat. I used some KaiserCraft scraps for the back of the card as well.
as usual- I added a button- my favorite embellie!
thanks for stopping by to look! have a wonderful weekend!

Blog Hoppin!

Welcome Welcome! is it Black Friday already? wow- this year has really gone by quickly!
Over at Bobunny we are doing Thankful Blog Hop! To those of you coming from Rita's Blog, thanks for coming by
!

What are you thankful for this year? I have so many blessings in my life. Definitely one is getting back in touch with my sister Kelly, and reconnecting with her has been such a joyous part of my life. Of course, I'm also thankful for my family's health, our home, and I can't forget my children and husband.
I wanted to share something else I believe is a blessing in my life, my love of crafting and artistic ability. Not many days go by where I feel that I need to create and just sitting down in my office- making a few cards or a more elaborate project brings me such joy.

I created this beautiful Christmas birdhouse, out of this church styled birdhouse I've had for several years- sitting there unfinished. My youngest daughter had started painting it deep burgundy, and we'd let it sit.
Recently I reclaimed it- and pulled it out to work on it.

To create it- I first used Crackle Medium and let it dry a few hours, then painted it with a rich cream acrylic, letting it dry for a couple days. ( that's just me- you can just make sure it's overnight) I added glittered fern leaves from Autumn Leaves, a few red and pearlized berry sticks from the silk flower department at the craft store, I used raffia to make my bow, and I used Bobunny Pear Double Dot paper to cut out my holly leaves. I also glittered them with light lime glitter. I also used a Bobunny Glittered Brad in the K&Co chip on the bottom. I added the K&CO chip banner to the top of the birdie hole, and called it complete.

Next on stop on the Bobunny Blog hop is Julia's Blog- check out everyone's blogs as many team members are doing small giveaways!

If you'd be so kind as to leave me a comment- I'd love to know- Do YOU do the crazy shopping on Black Friday- or do you stay at home, enjoying leftovers?

We typically decorate our house on Black Friday- I don't do crowds well- so we'll be enjoying our day trimming the trees and listening to Christmas music.
thanks for coming by!

New card

well- it's a start- I typically don't make a lot of Christmas cards for myself, but I found these gorgeous K&Co chips that I had to have. What really attracted me was the light glittering on them, just made them so special!
I like Christmas two ways- fresh and funky with limes and pinks- or old fashioned- with gorgeous reds and deep greens!
These of course, needed the red Bobunny St. Nick paper- BUT I changed it up with some green pear dot cardstock! I added in a glittered leaf from Autumn leaves, and some red craft berries. I used my new Martha punch to make the side border, it's embossed as well- see on the close up! I also added a old stash tag- yay me ( said in my best London Tipton voice!) and I think the twine bow with button is PERFECT to finish this card.

by the way- Blogger has changed things in a good way- and if you want to see these beauties close up- you know- to see those mistakes up close and personal- just click on the pics.
That's it for today! have a fantastic day!

New Post

Good Morning! It's been forever and a day since I've posted hasn't it! well- truth be told, I haven't been feeling that well and spent the day in the hospital the other week. It wasn't anything big ( not swine flu either! ) , but I've been trying to recuperate- and that meant no creating for over a week. Having to take it easy is difficult for me, I even missed doing my every day household chores. But I am slowly getting back into my routine, and hope to be able to share some new stuff soon.
One of the first things I did when I sat down to create, after cleaning up some new products I got in a Cards package, was to create for CardPatterns sketch 42. Michelle ( and everyone else I had to put off last week) was super understanding for me missing out on last week's card.
So here is this weeks, sponsored by Sherrod Studio. I borrowed a stamp set from Kelly- my sister was part of the design team, and created these double stamped flowers. Of course I popped them up after cutting them out, and added buttons to the center- totally my thing! lol
I also used some Basic Grey for the background paper, cut out my scallop circle with scissors, and put on some mondo twill for ribbon. My NEW martha punch embosses and does the scallop - love it!! Thanks for looking!!

Have a funtastic Sunday!

Dude. sweet.

dude. sweet. dude! sweeeeet!
whenever I hear those words- I think of that dumb movie- Dude Where's My Car. Didn't really like it- but remembering the two talking about their new tattoos, still makes me laugh!!
so of course- I was chuckling to myself finishing up this card. it's not meant to say- Sweet Thanks.
But- Sweet.... Thanks!!
I broke out my new Bobunny to play with a little, the colors were perfect to match the old stash SEI tag, and the new Studio Calico journal spot. I even used some of the gloriously decadent GLITTERED Bobunny brads - run and get these! they are in the packages of iCandy brads.
Again- grabbing stash to use- I used these old brown Heidi Swapp chipboard letters, and a rubon from Making Memories.
I finished the card with my button and twine and hope you enjoyed seeing my creation today!

p.s.- Just wanted to shout out that my card made the top picks this week on the Cards Blog - check it out!

Cardpatterns Sketch 40

Good Morning! feeling the chill in the air lately! Brr. Not looking forward to winter- too cold and blah for me. I'd rather have warm sun!
This week at Cardpatterns- we again were sponsored by Chris Franco. Of the stamps I received, I liked this snowman best. But admit- it's not that easy to keep coming up with cards for him.
I do like the colors of this card. The Kaiser Craft papers are just wonderful for those winter feeling images.
For this- I cut my paper into blocks. I also popdotted my main mat, then added several layers to it. For the snowman, I stamped him onto white and lime paper, then cut out the hat and scarf and paper pieced him. I popdotted him as well. Then I added some Anna Griffin flocked stickers, the tree and greeting. I also used some SEI ribbon, a craft supply button and twine.
Have a great weekend!

Cool weather card

Cool weather is on it's way. I created this card with some scraps I had left after making another card. They are KaiserCraft papers. Which though they weren't specifically winter themed, I loved the colors and the coolness of them.
I had found this wonderful crocheted snowflake in my stash- I have a huge stash I am trying to dwindle down to usable portions- and decided it was perfect with the ocean mist button and brown twine. That's what started this whole card! So I traced out a wide heart, and cut that out- then handcut my own heart to top it from a piece of white cardstock I had already embossed. ( want to use more embossed papers- do a bunch of scraps ahead of time, and keep them somewhere near you- you will use them more often and love the dimension they add to your projects. I popdotted both hearts, then added my snowflake to the top heart. I also added a touch of scalloped border in lime, just to bring that bit of green out. For the title- I used some My Mind's Eye rubon words- and two pearl stickons.
Happy Day to you!

newsprint is fun

now, I wouldn't recommend that you use it on layouts or altered items- unless of course you have patterned paper with a newsprint pattern. BUT for a quick fun card, it's perfect!
again- i went into my scraps box, and pulled out some pink Bobunny dot cardstock, along with just the tiniest amount of Persuasion- My Sweet paper- which I used for the greeting part of my card. I added some leftover Reminisce B&W dot- from the halloween collection. then I added a baby collection- Anna Griffin journal spot.
I crumpled, glued and cut my newspaper out with my cricut- Indy Art again. and popdotted it on the card. I added in this really pretty gingham ribbon- michaels- and my signature button and twine. Super simple but fun card.
Thanks for coming over!
kris

Simple can be fun

Don't have a lot of time, product or want to keep your card quick. Make a card with lots of 'white' space. For this simple card, I used cardstock cut to fit a business envelope, then added the embossed lines with my Scor-It, coming in 1/4 of an inch from all edges, just making a straight line.
Then I added some Basic Grey border sticker, another BG journal sticker I adhered with popdots, added a couple of these stem stickers, put a double flower together with a button and twine, then topped it with a small round sticker.
It was very simple- and fast- and I love how it turned out!
have a great day!

Newsprint Challenge

I dropped in at the Cards blog this week- and saw that Paige had challenged everyone to a Newsprint challenge- Project Runway Newsprint Challenge this week.
Of course- I thought it was a fabulous challenge- having been kind of burnt out on challenges- I thought- now that is something I could totally do.
Now- what to make creative?
well I certainly came up with several ideas- and hope to impliment them soon, but my first idea was to get my wonderful Indy Art Cartridge out- and cut out this skull and bones. Now I first crumpled the paper, adding spray adhesive to both some scrap cardstock and the newspaper.
After cutting it out- I added popdots to it.
I used scraps of Bobunny Love Shack paper, and some pink cardstock. Adding punched borders along the sides.
I also used this American Crafts clear label- then adhered it to the reverse side of the Love Shack paper.
I added some Kaiser Craft gems to the eyes- and a flower that matches the pink papers- much better IRL. A bobunny button and twine finish off the flower over to the side of the skull.
The Urock letters are also glittery- and come from Reminisce.

Thanks for stopping by- hope you enjoyed my card!
kris

New layout

I sure don't scrapbook as much as I used to- but I'm hoping that will change now. I'd like to do more- I just think I've been overwhelmed into thinking I must journal something meaningful and fantastic onto each layout I create, and truthfully, I'm just not that into writing. Of course I want my girls to have pages to connect with me through time- and probably there will be some that are the most special in their lives. But it shouldn't be stopping me from creating now.
So I'm working on that. Of course- I adore doing cards- less then an hour and I've got that quick creativity fix!
I wanted to share this layout I made for the Bobunny blog, creating with recycling.
I stamped packaging with Staz-on ink, let it dry, punched it out with a circle punch and made my own embellishments.
I used the Bobunny Flutter Butter line, and also punched out some small flowers- stamping and punching several smaller circles, then layered them on top of my punched flowers. I added some BB Bling gems to the centers of the circles, and used stickers and border stickers from the Flutter Butter collection as well.

Bright bright colors

If you've been coming to my blog for any length of time, you know I prefer bright colors. Love lime, and anything paired with B&W. So I had taken this Bobunny Love Shack paper out to work with for another card- didn't end up using it- but I had taken the time to cut the flower out.
Couldn't let that go to waste now could we.
I paired it with the reverse of the paper, and some Pink Punch Double Dot cardstock, adding in this gorgeous wide B&W ribbon from SEI. I added a bow and button- from bobunny to the bow and twine, then layered on some plain white cardstock, also adding a piece that I punched with my Martha punch as well. The thank you rubon is old stash Bobunny, and the chipboard is Amercican Crafts. I added some Martha Black Pearls ( do you hear Johnny Depp saying that - or is it just me? )

wha la- finished card!

thanks for looking!

More fun with Basic Grey

I've said it before- I am just in love with using this ocean mist color along with fall colors- it's absolutely perfect to me!
Basic Grey- Indian Summer- which I guess is pretty perfect for a name- since it's still got hot colors of summer, combining with some of the cooler colors of fall. Got me a big ol' pack with letters and stickers- and I'm a happy girl! So what I did to make this card...
first I put on that small block of paper- I wanted some 'white' space on this card. then I added the big scallopy border sticker, and topped that with this cute Studio Calico card- another freebie from my Cards package. I put on this leaf sticker- it was a border and I cut it apart- adding a smaller second to the top of the first.
I had cannibalized a card that was damaged- so I already had this colored scallop circle chip- I just adding a circle cut from more paper, distressing the edges. Then used BG letters to add my greeting. Finished the card with a beautiful ocean mist button, and a bow of twine. Then used my piercing tool to put that border around the card.
Enjoy your day!

Monday Monday

Here is a cute preholiday altered idea for you! I love these little rolled cookies- and definately consider them holiday fare. So if you have a container like this- or something similar- here is a way to reuse it.

I took the liner out of the inside- and after inking the edges, I added it around the container. Glue Arts was so generous with the Pursuit of Craftyness team, I used their Glue Glider Pro gun to stick everything on! There was even a bottom liner that I used on the top of the lid as well.

I received some Basic Grey in a package from Cards Mag( Indian Summer)- so of course- I wanted to play with some new stuff! My sister Kelly came down for a visit and gifted me with this fab felt border package-( Michaels). I cut one strip in half for the top and bottom borders. I added in this funky lime green cardstock as well.

I cut a circle of the dark brown, then added punched circles to make a large flower. I added some BG leaf and letter stickers. Then a button with the twine I wrapped around the container. And a couple extra craft supply buttons.

For the perfect finishing touches- I went back to my Bobunny supplies, and found the is my favorite sticker, plus the bracket sticker layered with the colorful tag on the tin lid. I added more buttons and finished with a mulberry flower from a silk flower I took apart.
what to do with this tin? fill it with yummy chocolates, homemade goodies or a tall candle. gift it to a friend, teacher, neighbor, or coworker, or keep it for yourself!
thank you for looking!

Saturday CardPatterns

Happy Sunday- yesterday was our weekly reveal on Cardpatterns. This week we were sponsored by Sherrod Studios. Kim sent us each stamped images to work with. I picked this pumpkin grouping- coloring in with my sharpies, since I don't own any Copic markers.
I used some Basic Grey Indian Summer papers - adding in some old Mambi felt and glitter leaves. I also took a chipboard flower- cut off two of the petals and made my little butterfly, adding twine to the button to make it's antenna. I used my deco scissors to make the scallop edges around the oval cut with a simple template and scissors. ( Don't have any nestablilties)
I took a copper brad, and heated it with a lighter ( use pliers to hold it- gets hot!!) and it turned it this beautiful rich reddish orange- don't do it too long or it turns blueish white. and that brad holds my stamped greeting as well.

a tiny bit of WRMK ribbon turned to the backside finished the card.

thanks for coming by!
