Christmas Outtakes

Over on the Bobunny blog this week- we did a 2 page sketch challenge- the sketch Rita made was fab, but I'm not much of a two page girl anymore- so I reduced it down to one- and combined my favorite elements in my design. Go see the other wonderful layouts the team did- they are so inspirational.
I used my new favorite- ocean dot cardstock, with Tis the Season papers and letters. I loved the sideways title here- some of my most favorite layouts have the title done sideways. I used my Martha punch for the borders, and fussy cut the trees from paper. I popdotted most of them for dimension and printed my journaling from the puter. I also matted and scalloped then lifted my main photo - even though it's the same size as the others- to have it stand out against them.

Good Sunday Morning!

Hope you all are having a nice weekend. Hubby and I are cleaning and painting a small room we have off my office- we have given it over to the girls as a craft room for now- but it could function as so many others- bedroom, office, man cave!! LOL!! Chris ( my hubby) was seriously dreaming of turning it into a man cave, but we have time later on to make it that. For now- the about 10x10 room will function as the girls crafting room- with a large 8 foot table, iris carts for storing their craft supplies and a wall for displaying their art. I like that I can close the door and not have to see their mess! We painted the dark wood paneled room white - with a single lime green accent wall. we'll still have a little decorating to do to finish the room- but that can be done in time.
So that is why it has taken til today to get my Saturday Cardpatterns card up. I was in a romantic frame of mind this week so I pulled out my Bobunny Beautiful life papers out and used that for the background. I added a little bobunny dot cardstock- espresso and this ocean color that is right now my absolute favorite color! I bought a little silk flower spray this week and the color was just right - so taking the flower off the stem, I put a button in the center and tied on some of this old stash measuring tape twill. I tied a bow, then added some glittered wings I cut with my indy art cartridge, then used spray adhesive to add the glitter. I also added a couple MM sticker journal spots- I shabbied the edges a bit, some DCWV flocked sticker letters and an embossed white cardstock - using the distressed stripes folder.

thanks for stopping in- have a wonderful rest of your weekend!

Fun with quote strips

When I worked for Around the Block, they designed a lot of papers with quotes on them. I think the quotes are great and have hung onto many of the papers to use.
In cleaning a bit this week- while I am trying to get over the flu no less- I found a bunch of these in my scraps pile.

I am on a course to get organized - I realize it's one of the anal tendencies I have- I can never be organized enough, I am on an eternal search for organization perfection. I want every single thing in my office ( and my house!!) to be in it's perfect place! Of course I realize that will never happen- as my needs change as time goes by, but it will never be for lack of trying!

so having unearthed a few of these treasures- I made a couple cards while I was busy trying to rest yesterday. LOL!

LOTS of bobunny double dot cardstock on this- an around the block quote that I matted on (lime) green with my scalloped scissor edging. A bobunny dot ribbon, a crafty button and green floss bow. I added a few Reminisce rubon letters and a tiny orange gem as well. To make the sun, I simply cut strips of paper, attaching them to the large circle and glued it off center to the card, then trimmed off the excess.
Next, I had a lot of fun crafting this card. Bobunny double dot cardstock- more scraps I have in my pile- some white cardstock I embossed with swiss dots then cut clouds with my indy art cart.
I popdotted the two small ones. The greeting block is Around the Block, I added a strip of paper, and a Bobunny button. I paper pieced the two kits- simply cutting some diamond (rhombus) shapes and putting in another color then trimming the paper to fit. I added floss strings- with teeny tiny cut tails.

I am planning on some changes to my blog this week- so hopefully that will go smoothly- wish me luck!

Color Combos

I recently have started enjoying color challenges as well as sketch and theme challenges. Although, there are times when too many colors keep me from doing a challenge- so I really liked this weeks color chef challenge. Orange, Brown, Green and Cream or White - to simplify it.

I got out my scraps bin- everything here was scraps! I used Bobunny Dot cardstock. a little plain green paper, that I took a Bobunny stamp ( from Delilah) and used versamark ink to create a patterned paper. I also used an Inkadinkado stamp- and some deep orange ink from Colorbox, to create the stamped greeting. I added details with my deco scallop scissors around the circle punched greeting- popdotted that for dimension, and my Martha eyelet lace punch for the pretty borders.

I added a tiny bit of plain ribbon topped with an old mulberry flower and button. I also distressed the edges of the green, just for fun.

Distressed

Not so much me - the card! Cupcake Crafts challenge this week is to distress. So I distressed all the edges on my card, cept for the stamped image.
I was talking about these cool stamps from Inkadinkado that I bought at Joanns, if you look, you can see the larger image is made up of smaller spooky images. So I stamped in a really pretty orange from my colorbox petal points, then cut it out and added popdots to it. I added an Anna Griffin journal spot, some thin dot ribbon and bobunny double dot cardstock. I cut out a couple small stars with my cricut Plantin cartridge, and added a button. Then I used a few old stash letters to finish it off- adding in a touch of hand doodling to add a bit more. I also inked the edges of my card with cocoa, and added the roughed edges by running a nail along the edges to give them that worn look.

Hello there

Playing with some new stickers from the dollar store, I wanted to have a single sweet flower. I added some Debbie Mumm glitter paper, some bobunny dot cardstock, and this little sunflower sticker.
The tag I made using a technique I shared not long ago on the Bobunny blog using stamps, then I finished with a greeting from Reminisce sticker letters and a bit of plain satin ribbon.

have a great day!

Pearfect day

I have some jumbo stickers from Reminisce and was wondering what in the world I would do with them. Typically I don't like using a large sticker on anything, but thought this would make a super cute card. I popdotted the whole sticker, raising it up off the background. The paper is Dream Street. I used a journal spot that I trimmed with deco scissors. I handwrote my greeting, adding some buttons and floss to finish the card.

Have a wonderful day!

Pure Birthday Decadence

This weekend my baby girl celebrated her 8th birthday. We did a treasure hunt for her birthday gifts, has her favorite meal- pepperoni pizza, and I made decadent rich cupcakes for her.
Not long ago Bakerella had a dozen mixed varieties she had gotten from a bakery and showcased them on her blog. I thought some of them looked absolutely marvelous and wanted to try them next time I baked. Annalise picked out the butterscotch ganache cupcakes with vanilla cake and vanilla buttercream.
You all know- I stick pretty much with a quick and easy fix on the cake batter, and go homemade with my icing. The ganache was easy to make, simply melting butterscotch chips into some hot heavy cream. Mine was a bit thin, but after tasting it- I was glad for it.
These are super super rich cupcakes- I didn't even care for them the first night- after a day the flavor mellowed out and they were pretty yummy. But I would still go with thinner ganache on them.
Little miss 8 year old loved them and that was all that really matters anyway, but in case you all get a heavy need to make them...
use a yellow cake mix- the secret for wonderful cakes- underbake them a teeny bit- then they won't dry out so much
buttercream- 2 sticks margerine ( butter ends up a little to rich tasting for me) and 1.5 pounds of confectioners sugar, 1 or 2 teaspoons vanilla- real stuff please. Really beat this to have it super fluffy!
ganache- I used about 1/2 cup heavy cream to one entire bag of chips- chocolate, milk chocolate, white or butterscotch. whatev you want to use.

enjoy!

Birthday tulle

I was recently at the dollar store and found some cute rounds of tulle in the wedding section. I wondered what I could do with them. Thinking it would make a cute background for a card, I cut and gathered a bit.
I also found some super cute flower stickers in the crafting section.
So I pulled everything out and added some DCWV glitter paper, bobunny dot ribbon, and a solid glitter paper that I punched out the edge with my martha punch. I added a couple glitter leaves to the flowers. I also added in a painted chip piece and some Basic Grey sticker stash letters.

You can see the tulle better here, it really added another dimension to the card, without making it too heavy.

that's it for today!!

This week's sketch is sponsored by Nina- one of the fabulous Design Team members over at Cardpatterns, so we just needed to follow the sketch.
I brought out some Imaginisce papers, a little Bobunny cardstock, a bit of cuttlebug embossed paper, a little Bobunny ribbon, and super cute Reminisce stickers.

Busy

Now that the weather is cooler and the girls are back in school, I am pursuing some chores around the house that had been put off b/c of summer. This week I just finished painting my dining room, although it took me 3 days, it was well worth it and I am just loving the new dark sage/white combo with red , dark brown and yellow ochre accents. My decor is very traditional - with pretty straight lines and only a few decor items. I LOVE IT!!
I haven't been even on the computer so here I am on Thursday posting my card from last Sat's Card Patterns. I used some Bobunny Anna Sophia- still one of my all time favorite collections, and I used a Cutting Cafe digi stamp for the apple. I pieced the apple, and added a cute country button with twine. I added a little red gingham ribbon- you know my affinity for it- from Bobunny, and used one more baby button on that.

Quick Post

A fun color combo for a wintery card. Our Card Patterns sponsor Chris Franco is a rep for The Angel Company. She sent us some fun stamps and papers to play with. I stamped the snowman on white pearl paper with staz-on. Then stamped again and cut him out of the brown and pink papers. I popdotted the hat and scarg then added them to him. Next I glittered all around him- to look like falling snow.
I added a bit of white puffy paint- unpuffed- and added larger glitter flakes to the top of the snow. I also added a touch of marker to him, just his cheek and buttons.
Then I added matting and cut some of them with my zig zag scissors. I added a prima flower- I glittered the center, some swirls of gems, and my greeting I folded into a banner.

thanks for coming by! I hope to have a few things to share this week!
