Christmas Cards with a Bonus

Posted by: Kristen Swain · Edit
Good Morning! Kristen herewith you today with a fun Christmas card kit. These cards are extra special, because they come with a removable ornament for your card recipient to hang on their tree!  I cannot wait to show you how I created these pretty cards.
I also have a great technique I used to create these cards and I hope it will inspire you to play and see what you can come up with. I have use my Cuttlebug machine and folders to create impressions on patterned paper, to make a stencil pattern for me to glitter and create a pattern on top of a pattern. Confused? look at this first card.

I first printed my cardstock with my Imagine machine and the Vintage Papers cartridge, the vintage newsprint. Then I used my 5×7 Polka Dots folder to impress on each layer of the star. I added a drop of glue to each raised dot of the embossing and then glittered with silver glitter. I now have newsprint/glitter dot paper. Isn’t it lovely!!! I adore vintage christmas!!

For the ornament,I created the star using a flower shape , then I folded at each inside and outside point for dimension. I also layered the star with foam tape, to add more dimension. I created the little wreath with a silver pipe cleaner, and then added blue pearls, the button and twine bow, and a little believe sticker.

After I created my card, I used foam tape behind where my ornament would sit on the card. I then used a repositionable adhesive on the front of the foam tape sticker material, and that keeps the ornament on the card.  Then when the card recipient is ready, they can remove the ornament to hang on their tree.
Using a similar technique I created a bells card ornament.

This time I debossed the snowflake image- meaning the snowflakes were sunk down into the paper, instead of raised. You can do this by opening your embossing folder, and feeling the raised part of the design, then putting that side onto the front of your design.

I fancied up my diecut, not only by layering it, and adding the glitter to the debossed snowflakes, but I also added a bow of silver pipe cleaner tinsel, another bow of twine, some small berry stems I wrapped around a bamboo skewer and tied on three jingle bells as well. I covered the ribbon layer of the bells with glitter and added pearls to the flowers.

That makes a lovely ornament! Simply tie on some twine for a hanger and place onto your card for giving!
Happy Holidays!
