It's the end of the month!

don't forget to get your name in for my goodie box of schtuff! just leave a comment by midnight tonight!

and if you don't win- don't worry- I'll keep having giveaways cause i got lots of stuff!

this is my first digital layout. I got into doing some digi work for an assignment, and learned things along the way. So I figured I could do a little bit of it since I found a bunch of freebie stuff online.

I found the papers at shappyprincess.com and the letters are from freedigitalscrapbooking.com

the flower and gem I bought in a kit called sweet digi doodles.

I supplied the cutie pic pics! LOL!
anywho- i'm fairly happy with it- and it's a neat venture- so maybe I'll shrink them down, print them out and put them in a 8x8 album. it would be a good use for some of my older pics that aren't so great.

and who's a lucky duck?

I'm A LUCKY DUCK!!

I got a nice package yesterday in the mail from Anna Griffin- some of the new lines- oh my goodness- sooo beautiful! and SPARKLY!! ya know I love me some bling!
So I made a couple cards today with the beautimus gorgeousness stuff!
the two collections are called Hannah and Georgette. You can find more about them on AnnaGriffin.com
I could list the supplies, but they are pretty much all Anna Griffin, cept the snowflakes under the diecut ones- those are cricut.
and the little letters are Making Memories.

Sketch Card

I decided to go ahead and do the sketch right away for 2sketches4you this week. I had these papers out on my desk so I went ahead and used what was already out.
Everything is pretty much Bobunny, a salute to fall coming. I made the flowers and the welcome with my cricut, and handwrote fall- which I don't love but I should do more handwriting.
The second card I made while playing around with the cricut. I used stretch your imagination cartridge to make the flower, then cut it in shadow and blackout as well as silhoutte. Then I glittered it and added the brads.
I added another Bobunny cutout,
some Anna Griffin twill, another bobunny sticker. The oval is another shape cut with plantain cartridge and beauty is cut from that as well.

Happy Monday!

I've got a busy week this week. Dh and I started painting the living room and it's a huge project. So I am going to try to work more on it this week so that we can continue getting it painted next weekend. Lots of painting on the crown moulding and built in hutch we have. I'm going with a white and golden yellow color in paint, since we have an earth brown couch, it will work well. I'm hoping to also buy lots of fall decor, since I want some pieces of orange glass, and it would be nice to get them on sale.
I finally get to share my altered frame I made with bobunny's Flirty line. Boy is it CUTE! lots of bright fun colors and birds and hearts and flowers! DAHLING!!
I made this with papers from the line, check out the bobunny blog to see the whole line, it was revealed 2 fridays ago. I also added in some ol' Jolees felt flowers- which I think look fresh with this. And some of those K&Co typewriter stickers. Each box says live, laugh and love. Gonna put this in Annalise's room, the color pinks really work in there!
have a great monday! and don't forget to comment - only one more day til I get to pull a name out of a hat!

Sketch Challenge

It took me a while this week, but I finally got a card made with the sketch over at 2sketches4 you.

This is made with the awesome card kit I won from there for making card of the week!
It's basic grey and had the most darling shaped cards and pretty punchouts!
I ended up putting on a bit of bobunny cardstock, just so my bracket thingie would stand out more. Love that rubon too!
I added in some cricut flowers and crown ( made with Accent Ess. and Paper Pups cart.) then gemed the flowers and stickled the crown. Sorry the pic isn't awesome there.
thanks for dropping by!

Cricut play day

Like my new banner? I made it yesterday after I was finished a digi assignment- not those products - got them from acherryontop.com but I like the colors- kind of fallish- but not quite yet!

yesterday I got to play a bit with my brand spankin new cricut expression.

oh my.

what fun!

I had a good ol' time pushing the buttons and cutting lots of random stuff out- wore out my blade already!

tee hee.

must go to walmart and buy some more...
oh lookie-
they have more stuff to buy for it- hmmm. me thinks me needs spatula and perhaps
another cartridge!

so lookie here- these two projects are what I made yesterday- along with finishing up an assignment- I rocked it out!
it's hard to see the stickles on the white- but it really adds pop to them.

I bend the flowers to give them more dimension. and I did have some more winter whisper paper from bobunny- so ok- maybe I'm overdoing it with the teal and brown, but they are so luscious!
this set reminds me of chocolate somehow- yum! I think it's all the different browns - cocoa, espresso, mocha... I'm hungry! anyway- this set is made with Plantain schoolbook- the little gift box is cut from a sheet of cardstock! then the flowers, leaves and swirl are all Accent Essentials Cartridge. the papers and rubon and buttons are all Bobunny

I was searching through my scraps pile for things to cut- muwhahahaha!!

and found my pile of Unforgetable from Bobunny! oh yeah!!

I cut flowers and leaves like they were going out of style! what is so awesome about the paper collection- is that it's double sided with dark and light colors- so I cut out circles in varying sizes, and just flipped them for the contrasting color!!

Again- dark this morning here so the stickles don't shine as well, but they look so pretty on this.
this set is made entirely with the Plantain cartridge. I cut the darling round box, and all those flowers, even the circles and of course the word celebrate. I used some Heidi Swapp letters ( for you) and the buttons and papers again- all Bobunny!

I'm off to market! LOL!

Oh happy day

I'm finally feeling like sitting upright and I get to share something KEWL!
I got my cricut expression in the mail last night! WHOOHOO!
I got a great deal on it from http://www.acmoore.com/
it came with plantain schoolbook, stretch your imagination, accent essentials, and paper pups cartridges!
I'm hoping to have time to play with it today, but I have several projects I need to get finished this week.

Bobunny released their new lines last week- I didn't finish sharing them here b/c I got sick, but I had made some more projects with this new line, Winter Whisper! check out the bobunny blog for the full line, and leave a comment to enter into their drawings! bobunny link in my linksidebar>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

I used all my scraps up on these cards of course. I love love love the colors!
the top card is made with stamps from inkadinkado - got these on sale for $5.99 from AcMoore! a great deal- I love the images within the butterflies! Pretty much the rest of the card is Bobunny. The black is from Unforgetable. and the white chip circle is another great bobunny item.

second card- yah- I had some more cardboard left from a project- so I thought I'd keep using it up- since it's such a cool texture.
Added in a cool Bazzill chip snowflake that i painted and put Tulip glitter on. Running low on my stickles.
added a great tortise shell type button, some twine for a bow and a rubon that I made into a tag.

third and last card-
I used a large rectangle chip covered in dot cardstock, then added another bazzill snowflake chip with paint and glitter, some buttons, lots of sewing, a WRMK ribbon and some MM letters in blue.
thanks for stopping by today!

Quick update

I haven't post in a few days- cause I soo sick- I have the flu and have felt like i'm dying for the past two days. ugh- being sick sux.
since I haven't taken the time to take pics of the new cards I made, I thought I'd share a blog post for bobunny. This frame is made from an old doodlebug charms package. I simply added in some paper, cut out my pic in a circle and added tons of flower to the edges.
have a great day- don't forget to post for my giveaway and stay healthy- cause having the flu is awful!

that girl's got a big RAK on her...

... blog that is- heh heh heh.

I made this darling little mirror last night for Alizabeth's room. Her colors are blue, lime and purple. She loves it- and I spent a good amount of time on it - so she'd better! LOL!

I used bobunny dot cardstock, lots of assorted bobunny rubon flowers and some new stampsI bought this week I had to try out from inkadinkado.
lots of foam tape, gems and some rick rack and plain lime ribbon.

another one of those awesome buys from the dollar store- it was a frame with a mirror- in plain white.

next comes the wonderful cupcakes that I made yesterday.

I'm sad to say my new icing recipe didn't work out- the stuff took over an hour and a half to get to the right temp and then it was more like fudge then anything I could make into frosting. soooo- into the fridge- and onto some sundae's later on-
it wasn't a total waste- at least it's still usable- and the flavor is wonderful- but it's not for putting on cakes.
these are the cupcakes that i made, the cake recipe is a dolled up box cake recipe.
you add 3 eggs, 1 cup sour cream, 1/2 cup veg. oil, 1 tsp vanilla, and 3/4 cup water to a box of devils food pudding in the box mix.
these are very moist- just wonderful!

the recipe I went to for icing - I just used my standard icing recipe-
1 cup shortening
1.5 cups butter
1/4 cup heavy cream
2 tblsp vanilla
and 1 cup chocolate chips melted
1-2 pounds of confectioners sugar

cream the butter/shortening with the heavy cream and the melted chocolate, then add in the 10x sugar til you get a consistency you like.

the cake stand idea i got from semi homemade on food network. Sandra took bowls and plates to make her stand tiered.
so I took a bowl turned upside down, a teacup plate and a ramekin, and layered them on my cake stand to bring up my cupcakes.
if I were doing this for a party-I would have used a bit of icing to secure them to the stand better, they were a bit shaky. course- if I had used less icing piled on the cupcakes- I could have used a salad plate and had more room.
but everyone in this family likes more icing then cupcake! LOL!

and finally for the last pic of the day.
my RAK giveaway!
this is at least what you will get. some papers from bobunny, WRMK, Around the Block, SEI
rubons from Bobunny, Stickers from bobunny
punch outs from WRMK, assorted ribbons and some diecuts from deluxe designs and jolee's stickers.
I made still add to the pile as I dig more stuff out.
don't forget to post to enter to win.
have a wonderful thursday-

My baby is seven today

Seven years old! time has gone by so quickly!

seven years ago, I was in a hospital. In labor for 21 hours, watching the news coverage of the worst terrorist attack to happen in the US. My epidural didn't work.

shortly before noon- at 11:46 am - this beautiful bundle of joy came into our lives.

she's a joy and a trial at times, sweet yet sassy.

sensitive and stubborn, she'sone of the reasons I scrap, so that she'll have something tangible to look back on when she's grown.

Happy Birthday Annalise!!

and- don't forget- cause I might - lol
posting comments til the end of the month gets you in the drawing for a goodie box- I'm still adding to it- will post pics tomorrow. It'll be some nice stuff.

I'm sharing some more bobunny stuff today. projects I've made for the splendor highlight.

this family layout, all bobunny, cept for the Amer. Crafts letters. and the twine.
splendor is just about my fav. collection. I love the colors in it- and it's super versatile.
you could use it for way cool christmas pages.
fall, easter, spring, summer- any theme really.
check out the bobunny blog- carole janson-http://carolejansons.blogspot.com/ made a totally awesome spice rack- that lady is brimming with fab ideas! the rest of the teams stuff is just wonderful as well!

I also made this gift bag- focusing on the gold and black colors. leave off the flowers and glittery frame, and you could use it as a masculine bag.
again- more bobunny splendor items, including a journal spot from their cutouts papers- I love those- they are so versatile!
bobunny flowers, red letters, brads, ribbon as well.
frame is colorbok- painted and glittered and the lil black letters are K&Co.

I have cupiecakes to make today- I am excited to try a new recipe. Annalise wants lots of chocolate- so mmmmm- mommy's ok with that!

make sure to check out Bobunny's blog today! they are doing giveaways in honor of the new releases! so make sure to leave a comment there as well!
and check out the gorgeous new sweetie pie line. here it is small- go to see everything in large images!

Exciting day

starting today, Bobunny is unveiling their new lines, one per day!

I've gotten to play with several and all the new collections are just DEVINE!

first tho- I want to share my card I made with Kazan's sketch over at 2sketches4you.

I used some scraps from a layout i made, can't share it just yet.

the papers and cardstock are all
bobunny, the letters are MM and Cloud 9. I colored the letters to match the card- cause I never seem to have the right size and color- and I have a LOT of letter stickers.

I guess I'm difficult-

the bird is My Mind's Eye- I used blue stickles on it.
I'm lovin the colors here- blue and green is just about my fav color combo-& paired with the black

POW!

below my card here is the preview of the Unforgetable line- I keep singing the Nat. Cole song- had it in my head for a week!
the line is all blacks and whites and greys- and it's soooo pretty! I love it!
seriously ya'll- it'll match with ANYTHING- and who doesn't love that! the line is meant for mostly wedding- but ya know I'm gonna stick bits and pieces of it in all sorts of layouts!
you can see the stickers as well on the bobunny blog today! the link is over >>>>>>>> in my blog links

my card is made with it- don't have the names of each paper in front of me, but you get the idea.
I used a bit of cardboard I tore up and painted.
then I added some of those darling bobunny letters, a MM glittered heart, bobunny dot ribbon and a tiny bit of MM letters.
I'm addicted to those letters I tell you!

have a great day!

PS- omgosh I almost forgot!! duh!
BLOG CONTEST!
in honor of reaching my 1000th hit- I'm giving away a prize! just leave a comment on my blog and I'll enter you in the drawing. I'll get some pics of the RAK uploaded later on so you can see, it'll be a pretty good sized goodie box. Contest ends Sept 30th - US residents only.

Happy Monday

it's going to be an exciting week already I can tell.
I won card of the week over at 2sketches4you!! how kewl is that!

plus A got a letter this week nominating her for People To People - a government program sponsoring her for an international exchange program, she'd be given the opportunity to go to Australia this year for 15 days to do lots of awesome stuff, including swim in the Great Barrier Reef, go to the Australia Zoo, learn about Aboriginal People, even stand on the winners podiums in the Olympic Stadium.

proud of that girl- I tell ya!

also this week- Annalise's bday- lil stinker is gonna be 7 already- where did the time go?

which means that Sat we are doing a party for her- just a small quick affair- since we just had that summer blast PAR- TAY.
I'm going to try a new cake recipe- and frosting recipe- hopefully all will go well and we'll have lots of yumminess this week.

I'm sharing a project I made for my flair highlight- most of my flair projects have been picked up- so I can't share them.
this sweet frame is made from a generic wood frame, i painted black, then crackled with cream paint. when it was dry I inked brown dye ink all over it. I love how old and well used it looks! gonna try that when I do some house projects- wouldn't that be great on a cool dresser!

inside I addededed -- LOL- lots of schtuff.
flair pp- a piece of bobunny scrap that i cut into that bracket shape, then a piece from flair's label paper. bobunny swirl of chipboard, some apple blossom flowers, with twine and button, flair paper lace, a crumpled heart, obligatory buttons, and more of those teeny tiny letters.
this was my first frame I've done like this- am so pleased with how it turned out!

have a great monday! i'm off to walk off some calories from all the sweets eaten and to be eaten this week!

what to share what to share

Had a couple things I could share today, but since i wanta keep you coming back, I'm only sharing one.

bahahahaha!

Sharing this treat box that was up on Bobunny's blog, it's actually a pencil box, that I've altered.

I sent it in to A's teacher, she about fainted in her seat when she opened it and feasted her eyes on the outrageous amount of chocolate chip cookies I sent in to her.

All the products on this are Bobunny, cept for the tiny letter stickers and the Bazzill paper borders. don't you just love those funky cute letters- they are way old stash- but I think they've gotten new life here- and I certainly have been wanting to now use them way more. Under the letters I stamped with some Bobunny Journal stamps as well.

inside of the box here.

didn't want to do anything that might get ripped off in event of serious chocolate cravings, or that might get squished or do some squishing of the goodies I send.

Yep- I did write to send it home so I can refill it, wouldn't you know- I got it back that night *wink* LOL!

Serious Decadence

Did some muffin making last night.
yeah- I used mixes.
they rock
I don't have to measure or gather a bunch of ingredients, it took me 2 minutes to make them,

and I'm mom of the moment for making another yummy treat, best that it makes for a quick bfast for the girls before heading off to school this morning.
I had the oven on, so I made blueberry with crumb topping-
I am so spoiled on crumb toppings, I must have the crumbly goodness on all muffins! :)
then I made cinnamon swirl, with crumbs and icing-

oh. my. gaw.

warm them in the nuker for 10 seconds, it's like all those delicious candles smell, in a bite.

Did I mention- I gave almost all our cookies away from the beginning of the week- so having another fresh treat is yum-o.
I've sent a few of these on to the teachers, I'll get hate mail at the end of the year for that extra 10 pounds they put on.

Better them then ME! LOL!

Someone at school brought in store bought cupcakes, A told me they weren't very good, suggested I buy the containers- and make homemade to send in for her bday- then everyone will think they were store bought-
apparently there is a thing with this district - no homemade items. what a shame. I could tell stories about things Ive seen in those store bakeries. But not everyone is as meticulous as I am, and I understand the idea.

So I told you I was keen on making some more of these cute flower stuck trees, well
I made another one yesterday- fall like- cause I had these scraps in my bucket o' and thought I could do one more country homey style.
it turned out ok- sweet - but not on the ranking of the first pink/teal tree I did.

DH (in a very nice way) told me the shape resembles those old air freshener things- that it looks like I made a cozy for one.

I don't think he's melted yet from my icy glare.

who says I can't take criticism. phhht.

I decoupaged the circles on the little pot- they wanted to pull off- so I glued the snot out of them and now they are all nicely adhered on.

the papers are bobunny, from the calendar collection. then I used a buncha buttons- some bobunny dot ribbon and some twine i seem to have to use on every project.

Winter Topiary

I worked last night and this morning on this-got your interest?
this sweet topiary is made mostly with punches.
aren't the colors devine- soo
pretty - almost springlike- but
no-
it's got little snowflakes. the line is Holiday Cheer from Bobunny!
I almost wish it had some sparkly snow on it- how fun would that be, little touches of glitter.
but with the gems all over it- I think it has enough sparkle.

then I tied these little bows from twine and adhered them in different spots all over. Each flower has a gem, some have a pink gem, most have white.

then I punched circles from the designs on the paper, and glued them to the pot, adding in a rickrack paper strip from Bazzill. I added a Bobunny white dotted ribbon as well - I am so thrilled with this.
wanna know the best part? I got these little topiaries at the DOLLAR store last christmas. Can't beat that deal! I have another one with a different design, I am thinking I will be doing something with that one soon, this was just sooooo much fun to make. I will admit- my thumb got sore pushing all the pins in I used to hold the flowers on. But it's all good- so much happiness from this piece, even my girls were just falling over it- they admired it so much!
that's it for tonight- have a great one!

MMMMMMM MMMM Cookies

I will warn you- this post might make you a bit hungry!
I love to bake still- you might not know this- but before I had the kiddos I was a professional cake decorator and pastry chef. Mostly the chefing was making small desserts, I was also a baker during some of those work years. The cake decorating was my true love - I worked at a store that sold hundreds of cakes and they were the best tasting ones around. But I have done lots of baking as well, everything- from artisan breads to danish.
I still love to do it- making a sweet confection- just a great amount of satisfaction in that for me.
In the interest of time, I tend to stick to more simple desserts and treats. Cookies are my favorites to make- I give away a lot of them. School teachers and Dh's coworkers- and sometimes to friends who need a pick me up.
Every year I make batches and batches of chocolate chip cookies. I even have several versions- including chocolate chip coconut pecan cookies.
This is my simple, basic chocolate chip cookie
I love a soft gooey cookie- the only crispness around the very outside edges.
my secret- add in more brown sugar then white- it keeps the cookie softer. And I put in lots of chocolate chips in my cookies- usually double the amount- so that they are positively brimming with em.
Here is my recipe

3- 4 cups flour
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1 cup stick margerine
1.5 cups brown sugar
1/2 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
lots and lots of chocolate chips.
cream margerine and sugar, add in eggs, then add in vanilla.
add flour, soda and salt. ( flour is not exact- I like a stiffer dough)

I make golfball size round balls with dough, then flatten slightly on my parchment paper covered cookie sheet.
to make pecan chocolate chip cookies- simply add in less chips and about 2 cups of pecan halves.
bake at 350 degrees for 10- 12 minutes. let cool on wire racks.

you can also make large cookies- I usually make those for my hubby- they are about 4 inches across- and they are the same dough- they just bake a bit longer.
have a great tuesday!

Laura's Sketch 8

Sketch of the week over at 2sketches4you

created this one using some 6x6 papers from bobunny. plus a scrap of cardstock for the card. the rubons are also bobunny, the flowers are prima, buttons and twine are darice.
chipboard bookplate is bazzill and I painted it and glittered it with stickles.

I was going for soft and sweet- with a romantic feel. Love black and white and pink, this also has a tiny bit of cream in it as well.

Thanks for stopping by!
kris

pecan recipe

Bobunny did a blog post on recipes for the labor day weekend.
this is the recipe I shared- I am trying - very slowly to build a scrap book of our favorite things so that we'll always remember them, or when I'm old and have forgotten these current favorites- the girls can say- remember when you used to make ------- and I can say- oh yeah- the recipe is here.
everything is pretty much bobunny- cept for the word Pecans- that's basic grey and the flowers are MM- I painted and stickle glittered them.
used my sewing machine for the large circle chip there.
the papers are Felicity from Bobuny, cept for the double dot cardstock- love that stuff- always ask BB to send me gobs of it when we do product refills.

pulled out those older BB letters and just love how they look- so I want to play around with them some more. Am looking forward to getting some more scrapping done this week. I went through some old stash and found some cute things I want to use. I am sooo guilty of hoarding! I try to work through it- but still - what if! there is the chance I use it up- and find the PERFECT thing to use it on- then i'm S.O.L.- cause it's gone. (we don't have a close LSS here- so I'm pretty limited to what I can find at the craft store- or paying shipping )
Good news for me- I am waiting on some cashola and am seriously looking at buying a Cricut Expression!! whoo hoo-

recipe-2 cups whole pecans1/2 cup brown sugar4 tblsp. heavy creamPreheat oven to 350 degrees.Mix all ingredients together in bowl, then spread on baking sheet.Cook for 20 minutes, stirring nuts after 10 minutes.Cool and store in airtight container.
have a happy monday!

butterflies

wanted to share some butterfly cards I made last month.
I got these pretty rubons from the craft store, Tulip makes them.
I put them on white cardstock, then cut them out with a craft knife.
The teal card is made with Bobunny Beau Jardin paper-such a pretty line.
then I added the bfly and bent the wings up for dimension. Added in a few prima flowers, some darice buttons and twine, and Basic Grey letters. The card was made with Bobunny Double Dot cardstock.

the second card is made with the reverse print on the beau jardin paper- beautiful to get such a different look from two sides of the same paper.
added a deco scissors scallop, some sewing, and a martha stewart photo corner.
the chipboard is from bazzill, I covered it in cardstock ( bobunny double dot) and stamped using one of the Stamp and Store sets- Journal- by Bobunny as well. Ink is Ranger coffee. then cut out another bfly and folded the wings up a bit. Added a bit of twine tied around the chip and a few more basic grey letters.

Our rain is gone- we got a great soaking- so hopefully everything will green up again! glad to have it- but glad it's gone! the pool is well filled again - am hoping for just a few last days to enjoy it.
have a great sunday!

Rainy Weekend

well- Hanna and Ike are on their way- I hope everyone stays safe and dry .
Hoping that we don't have too hard of a rain to wash all the dirt away that we just got put around the yard a couple weekends ago. Weird to see rain- we haven't had any in such a long time. Glad for it- just hope we get a good soaking to refresh everything. Fall will be awesome if we get some good rain.

I did this layout just to do it- which is different for me. all papers are Bobunny Vintage Carnival. LOVE the colors- doesn't it look like something summery- rich and warm and just a bit washed out? Hate that the title looks crooked- but thats something with the scan and the brads.
Check out this cute set I made- it's using all Bobunny papers, Beau Jardin line, and double dot cardstock.

I painted the lids then inked them- and added flowers and buttons from the All Stuck Up line from Bobunny. Some twine, some rubon letters from Reminisce, and chipboard letters from Colorbok.

I used a punch for the tags, handwrote on them what delicious chocolate delight was inside and

added some rubon flowers. Top it off with WRMK ribbons and YUM-

thought it would make an awesome gift for a teacher- or for a college freshman!

have a great weekend- stay safe.
